"We are a learning community, working together to provide a safe, caring and supportive environment. Our learning journey will be creative, challenging and personalised... to be the best we can."
Saturday 28th June was a fantastic day of football for our team as we took part in the Millennium Tournament. The day kicked off with a friendly match against a strong side from Liverpool. Although this game didn’t count towards our group stage, it was a brilliant warm-up to shake off the nerves. Despite putting in a good performance, we narrowly lost 1-0 to a very talented team.
However, this early setback only spurred us on. We went into the group stage determined and full of confidence, winning every single game:
1-0 win (Goal: Theo)
3-1 win (Goals: Theo x2, Finlo)
2-0 win (Goals: Theo, Finlo)
3-0 win (Goals: Theo x3)
2-0 win (Goals: Theo, Finlo)
1-0 win (Goal: Noah)
These results meant we topped our group and moved on to the quarter-finals where we faced St. Thomas’. The team played brilliantly, securing a convincing 4-0 victory with a brace from Theo and goals from Benji and Ishaan.
In the semi-final, we were up against a tough Peel side, but once again our team showed determination and skill, coming away with a 2-0 win and booking our place in the final.
The final was against Ballacottier and proved to be an incredibly close and hard-fought match. Despite Theo scoring his 13th goal of the tournament, we narrowly lost 2-1.
Although we didn’t bring home the trophy, the whole team should be incredibly proud. They displayed fantastic resilience, great attitudes, and excellent teamwork throughout the day. A huge well done to everyone involved!
