On Saturday 9th May, a very talented team of children from Years 3, 4, 5, and 6 proudly represented Vallajeelt at the Chess Congress. It was a fantastic event filled with concentration, strategy, and determination, and every single player should be extremely proud of their performance.
Throughout the competition, all of our children played exceptionally well. The standard was high, and every match required careful thought and focus. It was an intense and closely fought contest from start to finish, with each game contributing to the overall score.
The competition proved to be incredibly tight, with Vallajeelt and Kewaigue finishing on exactly the same number of points in 2nd and 3rd. Even the head-to-head result was tied at 3–3, showing just how evenly matched the teams were. In the end, the final positions came down to the result on Board 1. Thanks to an excellent performance and a crucial win from Izaak, Vallajeelt secured a fantastic 2nd place overall.
The children demonstrated not only strong chess skills, but also resilience, sportsmanship, and teamwork throughout the day. It was wonderful to see such dedication and enthusiasm from all involved.
