Scoill Vallajeelt took part in the IOM Primary Schools Chess Congress on Saturday 24th June which was hosted at Scoill Vallajeelt.
Schools from across the Island came to the competition and lots of families came along to give the children support.
It was a very well-organised event (thank you Mr. George!!) and the children played a series of matches against other schools in total silence. Each match lasted 15 minutes and you could sense the tension in the air!
Scoill Vallajeelt had a confident team who had given up many of their lunch times to attend Chess Club with Mr. George and who had a great team spirit!!
After some very close matches, at the end of the competition Scoill Vallajeelt were announced as runners-up!
It was a fantastic morning for all involved and such a wonderful vibe in the sports hall from all participants.
Thank you to Mr. George for training our team and running the competition and also the the member of IOM Chess who helped judge awards and score games.
