Y5 has a fantastic day crammed full of history, engineering, literacy and FUN! They started off with a trip to Douglas Railway Station where they had a tour of the locomotives and sheds and learned about the engineering behind our wonderful steam train heritage on the Island. Joiner's and carriage sheds and also the signal box. Back at school in the afternoon, Chris vine, the author of Peter's Railway, led a workshop where the children constructed a small gauge track complete with sleepers and rails. On Saturday 13th May, the track was assembled on the station platform and a small locomotive travelled along it pulling children sat stride the carriages. All of the children got a voucher to be able to attend the Peter's Railway Day on Saturday and the children who went said they have an enjoyable time. Thank you to Anji for coordinating all the school's and thanks to Megan's mum for getting our name on the list!!
