Forest School
We have really enjoyed been enjoying forest school on Monday mornings.
March 2023
What a busy start to the half term we have had!
We had lots of fun at Stay and Learn on 8th March. We made blow rockets and then tried to improve them. We found out that when we made our rockets and blow tubes narrower the rockets went further.
We made the longest paper chains we could using 1 sheet of A4 paper. We found out the thinner and longer the strips we used to make the chain the longer the chain was.
In science we are learning about light and how we see things. What do you think can be seen in the box?
Congratulations to our Science Super Stars.
Week beginning 6.2.23
This week in Science we have been looking at food labels and deciding whether a product is healthy or less so.
Y3 Bird watching.
Anna Graham from Manx BirdLife came to talk to us and we went bird watching in the school grounds with her. The next day we set up a hide in the classroom so that we could take pictures of the birds visiting our bird feeder. We watch them every day but as movement makes them fly away we took it in turns to sit with an Ipad hiding behind a wheeled white board so the the birds would not notice us. We got some fantastic pictures!
Finlo took the two photos above.
. Can you spot the robin?
. There were a lot of rooks on the school field.

Week beginning 16th January
What an exciting week this has been! We had a snow day on Tuesday and then on Wednesday a cricket coach came in and we had a visitor from Manx BirdLife in addition to our usual activities.
Science
We have been investigating if having a longer femur (being taller) meant we could jump further.
This is how far we jumped and the length of our femur . Left to right = longest to shortest jump.
These people jumped the furthest . Mila - 1st
Keeva - 2nd
Easton & Kiegan - 3 rd
We discovered that height/ length of femur had no bearing on how far we could jump!
