Every week the children have a dance lesson with the very enthusiastic Laura and they absolutely love it !
This week we have been immersing ourselves into Manx fairy stories! We have listened to The Making of Mann (the story of the two giants in Ireland and Scotland who were arguing) and The Buggane of the Glen Maye Waterfall. We have completed our ‘Hook’, a creative piece of work to immerse ourselves into the story. Our artwork is amazing!
We have also really been enjoying seeing the birds feeding from the window bird feeder!
Week beginning 2nd May2022
We had a music workshop this ween run by Andy Warn. It was called Sounds Rubbish and we were using recycled materials to make rhythms and then perform as a large group. The sound in the sports hall was awesome and it was fun learning the rhythms- Andy would say a sentence and we would use the syllables to create the matching rhythm using our beaters and drums.
Week beginning 25th April 2022
This week we have started our Science topic, Grow For It! The children dissected a flower and were able to label all the male and female parts.
Week beginning 4th April 2022
In Music this week we have been looking at traditional Indian hand movements called Hasthas, which are used in dance. The children learnt the movements for a deer, bee, elephant, snake, bird and tiger. We also tried to learn tortoise but struggled with that one! The children then worked in groups to choreograph a dance using these movements - which they then put to Indian music and performed for the class!
Week beginning 28th March 2022
Year three are very good at mixing colours!!!! We really wanted to challenge ourselves by trying to mix colours to get the exact match of a flower.
Being outside really helped too as we were able to look around at the colours of the sky and the bushes.
We did some absolutely beautiful colour mixing based on flowers on the field last week!
The children are enjoying making their desert biomes this week. We are putting a layer of dirt/soil, a layer of sand, some pebbles for landscaping and finally a succulent plant. We are then adding a splash of water and securing the jar with a lid. The plant should live happily in the jar now.
