What an excellent World Book Day this year. We had such an array of dress-up outfits ranging from Gangsta Granny to Demon Dentist and Horrid Henry to Hermione Grainger!
The teachers had the most difficult choice of choosing the Best Dressed Book Character from each class who were presented with a book voucher.

We also held our annual Off by Heart Poetry Competition. each child had the opportunity to learn a poem off by heart and enter the heat held in their class. The best 2 from each class then went on to perform in the Meadow Hall on World Book Day to the whole school! Head Boy, Head Girl and Deputy Head Boy along with Miss Lyon were the judges.

Well done to everyone who entered and spent their own time learning the poem, dressing up and getting props! 1st, 2nd and 3rd place were awarded. What a fabulous way to celebrate World Book Day and promote reading!

The children have received a raffle ticket for every night they have read at home this week. This means that you could earn 5 tickets over the week! On Friday, we held a draw in the hall after assembly and the prize for each ticket drawn out was a book-we had 46 in total! Congratulations to all the winners and to all the children who made the special effort this week with their reading.
